SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS ME "All right, I'll be sure to clear my schedule. Don't worry, I'll be there for the appointment. Yes, I promise. Okay, okay, I'm late for a meeting I'll call you in a bit. Love you, bye!"Ben quickly ended the conversation before Bella could continue. He hung up just as opened the door from the garage into the studio. The warmth of the studio enveloped him and Ben quickly shuffled in to avoid the cold outside. It was finally starting to get colder and after taking a single step outside the building, Ben had to go back in to put on more clothes. "Morning, what's my day look like?" He grinned as he greeted his assistant. She immediately stood up with his agenda and followed him into the office. As Ben peeled off the scarf and jacket, she began listing off the assorted meetings he had. Already a small pile of paper had amassed on his desk overnight and Ben tossed the jacket, along with the scarf onto the couch to start going through the paperwork. Finally his assistant finished listing off what he had and Ben sighed. "Sounds like a fun day. I'll get coffee and then head to...did you say a recording session? Ah, new band I suppose. All right, thank you ma'am." It seems there would be little break for Ben today. He dumped the papers back on his desk and glanced at the clock. Crap. The session started five minutes ago. No matter how much he tried, Ben always seemed to be late to everything. Even when he left the penthouse thirty minutes early, he would still find himself five minutes late to the meeting he was supposed to be in. Luckily he owned the studio, or he would have fired himself a long time ago. On the way he poured himself a cup of coffee and quickly blended sugar and creamer in. Ben navigated his ways through the hallways and down the stairs to find the recording studios. Just as he was about to open the door, he took a sip of his coffee, forgetting how hot it was. He winced and paused for a second to fan his tongue. "Dammit," Ben muttered along with a few other choice words. Still making strange faces, Ben quietly pushed the door open and slipped inside the studio. One of the audio engineers turned to yell at Ben, probably to point out the red, RECORDING sign but stopped when he realized who it was. With a sheepish grin, Ben waved and mouthed his apology before sitting down. As he sat down, Ben tried to make himself a little less noticeable. He peeked through the glass, observing the band. It took him a second to realize that he wasn't familiar with the band and he didn't want to interrupt them while they were recording. Instead, he simply leaned back in his seat to listen to their music. So far, he was pretty impressed. Ben placed his coffee down and closed his eyes, nodding to the beat of the music. The colors began filtering through the darkness. It was rather catchy. The music was a light blue color and Ben slowly relaxed as he continued listening the music. Not bad at all. TAGGED ! hayley! YOU MAKE ME FEEL LIKE I'M LIVING A TEENAGE DREAM Switchblade City was definitely a new experience for Hayley Fox. She wasn't used to a place like this, given the fact she was from a small town where nothing happened and a very little crime rate. Switchblade was completely the opposite, but hey, she was a big girl and she could make it on her own if she really wanted to, and she did. Music had always been apart of Hayley's life and she wouldn't have had it any other way. Her father was a musician and he had taught her everything he knew about playing various instruments as she grew older. So naturally, it was no surprise whatsoever that she was sitting in the studio, getting ready to jam away with her band. They weren't everyones cup of tea, but Hayley sure liked the music that she performed and she just figured everyone else did too. After all, she wrote most of the stuff they performed by herself and she was rather proud of that.
Plugging in her guitar, she fixed the microphone to where she was able to reach it better and placed the headphones over her ears. It was going to be a good day, after all, what a better way to start the day off other than doing your favorite thing in the entire world? Giving a thumbs up to the engineer behind the glass, she recieved her 'okay' and the band started playing. Waiting a few measures, she heard her cue and let her voice do to the rest of the work for her. When she started singing and recording, it was like she lost complete control of herself. She was completely infatuted with the sound and it was almost like she was under some sort of trance or spell of some kind. Either way, the next thing she knew the song was over and it was time to move on to the next one.
Nodding to her band, Hayley grabbed the bottle of water that was sitting beside her stool and took a few sips from it, not because she was thirsty, but in order to keep her throat wet and her voice in check. "Good job, guys. Song two, come in strong. Here we go" she said with an anxious head nod. Getting the thumbs up she was waiting for, the band started once again. Though, something behind the glass caught her eye. Hayley was easily distracted, so it wasn't surprising when she forgot to start singing. The man sitting behind the glass was foreign to her. Who is that? she thought to herself as she stared, unaware to the fact the band was still playing.
Finally realizing what was going on, she snapped out of it and laughed a little as she turned around to face the rest of her bandmates. "Sorry guys. Let's uh, try that again?" It was common for Hayley to be distracted, but not in the work place. In fact, Hayley cared more about her career than she did anything else in her life and that was something that everyone who knew her, knew about her. Shaking her head, she tried to keep her mind focused on the task at hand.. at least for that moment in time.

SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS ME It just wasn't the same in the studio anymore. Now that school had started, Ben was no longer woken up in the morning by Jamie's overly enthusiastic tactics. Mornings were a struggle now as Ben practically had to force Jamie into the car. Then there was the pregnant and hormonal girlfriend. He loved Bella, he did but sometimes Ben just couldn't comprehend why she was upset at him. Even in the studio it was difficult to concentrate without his normal distractions. It sounded strange but without Jamie's small distractions, Ben was somewhat lost. He missed the sound of his son's bare feet running in his office. Hell, Ben even missed all the time he spent trying to find Jamie's shoes hidden in the strangest places. It just wasn't the same. Still, all the same, Ben was trying to get back in the swing of things. Before, it was simple for him to sneak into the studio without announcing his obvious late entrance. It was just another thing he had to work on. He might as well have walked in and proclaimed his arrival. With a sheepish, embarrassed smile, Ben slid into the nearest seat and ducked down, wrapping both hands around his coffee cup. When the recording seemed to continue without any pause, Ben relaxed with a soft sigh. This was the one thing that seemed to stay the same. Sure, it felt a little strange to be sitting in the studio. In fact, this was probably the first time in weeks he had even managed to make it to a recording. He had forgotten how much he missed this. Closing his eyes, Ben allowed the lights to filter in and he allowed himself to enjoy the music. His eyes closed and Ben nodded his head to the beat. It was rather easy to slip into the music. This was one thing that he hadn't forgotten how to do. The colors came back easily to him and Ben forgot just how relaxing they were. His synesthesia had been rather surpressed the last few weeks. When the song ended, Ben barely noticed. It was only when the producer placed his hand on Ben's shoulder did he jump slightly in alarm. He glanced up to notice that apparently the only one who was distracted. Instead of letting the next song continue, the producer found the microphone and waved towards the band. "Hey guys, there's someone here to meet you." When he glanced at Ben, he realized the producer was referring to him. Apparently Ben was a bigger distraction than he realized. "Oh hey, I don't want to interrupt..." Well, it was a bit too late for that now. This is what he got for being late. Slightly embarassed, Ben stood up with his coffee in hand and gave the band a brief wave. "Sorry to interrupt you guys," he gave them a sheepish smile and then tucked his hand into his pocket. "It sounds great. I was just stopping by to check up on you guys. I'll be quick, promise," he grinned at them. His grey eyes flickered over the band quickly but when he spotted the lead singer, Ben's gaze unknowingly paused for a second longer. She seemed...familiar. Then again, if this had been ten year ago, she was exactly the type Ben would have found in his bed after a night of drinking. He smirked and shook his head. "I'm Ben Kanst." TAGGED ! hayley!
