i believe in nothing, not the day and not the night
I BELIEVE IN NOTHING BUT THE BEATING OF OUR HEARTS

Much like any other normal person, Xak rather enjoyed his sleep. On the other hand, his neighbor was not a normal person. The woman who lived next to him was convinced he was a homosexual demon that needed to be...well, actually Xak still wasn’t certain of her intentions. There had been several occasions when he came home from work to find a cross nailed to the door of his crappy one bedroom apartment. His neighbor really, really scared him. Today, his neighbor had decided that the very loud sex noises, clearly coming from the floor above them, was definitely coming from Xak’s apartment. So during his few very precious hours of sleep, the crazy lady next door came pounding on his door, demanding him to stop his ‘sinful behavior.’
With only a towel wrapped around his waist, Xak just stared blankly as she yelled at him and then pulled out a bottle. “What are you-,” he was cut off as she splashed him with water, screaming something about demons. “Is that holy water?! You are a psychotic bitch! It’s not me. I’m not getting it on.” Xak rolled his eyes when she appeared to be offended by his ‘offensive language’ and stormed off to complain to their landlord. Hell, he was pretty sure even their landlord was ready to kick her out of the place. Shaking his head, Xak fell back on his mattress and attempted to sleep but it was nearly impossible now. He glanced at the clock and figured it was about time he went to work anyway. Maybe at work he would think of someway to get back at his crazy neighbor.
After rolling out of bed, taking a shower and spiking up his pink mohawk, Xak laid out his outfit while he went to select a pair of sunglasses. All the while, he purposefully blared his music with the speakers pointed towards his neighbor’s apartment. Perhaps he would just leave them all night, playing the most obnoxious rap music possible. Ha! He’d like to see her sleep through that. Sticking his iPod headphones in his ear, Xak turned up the music as he left his apartment and practically ran out to catch the first bus heading towards Pulse. The bus was rather abandoned which gave him an excuse to headbang in the back to the music that only he, and probably anyone within a two foot radius, could hear. It wasn’t that his music was very headbangable, it was just that Xak liked to watch the reflection of his pink mohawk swinging back and forth.
It never failed to keep him amused on the short ride to the nightclub. He was early by the time the bus pulled up and Xak danced down the steps of the bus, looking rather ridiculous but he didn’t seem to notice. Walking in through the employee entrance, Xak began singing along to his music as he made his way towards the empty bar. “I want something else, to get me through this, semi-charmed life!” His hand found the nearest bottle and he began using it as a microphone while still continuing his dance. About a minute in, Xak realized he wasn’t the only bartender around and he pulled his head phones, letting them fall around his neck. Grinning at them all, he gave an enthusiastic wave and placed the bottle back down. “Uh...hi guys, how’s it going?”
