She'd been lying there for at least an hour now. And yet Poppy still didn't want to get up. If her mum were here, she'd probably just laugh, yank the curtains open, and accuse her of being a teenager. To tell the truth, Poppy was tired. She hadn't been able to sleep all night, thanks to Kieran and whatever the hell he was doing in his bedroom. Which happened to be next door to Poppy's. For God's sake! Wasn't he supposed to have moved out by now? Of course, Poppy wouldn't dare say this to his face, and if she tried, she'd probably just stutter. And mess the whole thing up. Then go red. Then he'd laugh... and hit her... repeat for several years. Fighting back tears, Poppy rolled over so her fac was pressed into the pillow. If she suffocated herself now would anyone care? "M-mum would care." She muttered to herself, albeit slightly mumbled because of the pillow. Rolling over again, Poppy forced herself to move. Okay, pull the covers off... sit up... and out of bed before she gave in to temptation and hid away again. Something Poppy was good at... Poppy banished the thought from her mind by yanking the curtains open - just like her mum used to - and briefly recoiling at the sudden burst of light. Closing her eyes and turning her head away, she pulled them curtains shut a little bit. After she decided it was safe to open her eyes without going blind, Poppy turned back round, unhooked her dressing gown from the curtain rail and went downstairs. Oh. Kieran was already up. He looked tired too - well, Poppy thought dully, it had sounded like he was up for most of the night. His black hair was all over the place and he too was wearing a dressing gown, although he had actually thrown some clothes on. Somehow sensing his half sister was their with him, Kieran turned around, allowing Poppy to see that he had a gun in his pocket. Oh, hell. "She lives." Kieran commented dryly, smirking. Poppy decided that wasn't worth replying to and moved further into the room, only to be halted by Kieran's next comment. "Oi, Poppy. Go and sort my bed out, would you?" "W-what?" Poppy was a bit surprised. "Um... I-I, I d-do-" Kieran reached over and hit the back of Poppy's head. Hard. "Listen, you little bitch." He hissed, grabbing Poppy's hair so she was twisted round and looking at him. "You sort that out now, or things will get a LOT more painful than this." His scowl turned into a grin as he pushed Poppy back towards the door. "Now go." Poppy swallowed and stood there in shock for a few minutes, before Kieran raised an eyebrow and she fled. She was still fighting back the tears as she pushed open the door to Kieran's room. She paused to wipe her eyes before looking up... oh god, there was someone else in here. Fear shot through Poppy once more, and she looked at the girl - girl? - with wide eyes. Ah. Now it made a little more sense... "Um... h-hi."Tag: Cass Words: 555! Whoop! Notes: Poor Poppy xP

a clenched fist saying it's wrong to want more than a folk song [/size] "Hell..." Cass mumbled quietly, rubbing her temple with the back of her thumb. She closed her eyes for a moment, collapsing back onto the bed and resting her head just below the pillow- a method she had learned to rid herself of headaches. "Fucking hell..." Profanity also always seemed to help.
She never minded staying up all night; it was something she was used to, and it had become clear to her in the past few years she had been with delinquo that she could survive on little sleep. No that wasn't the problem. The problem was that she hadn't smoked pot since last friday, and she was already starting to feel the withdrawal. Grabbing a fistful of sheets, she finally opened her eyes. A window across the room stared back at her, full of sunshine and sky, beams of light dancing through the glass and across the room in small clusters of glitter. She could faintly hear the song of a bird as well, not too far off, and she scowled as she sat up, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. Of course it was a cheerful morning; it always was when she was detoxified like this.
Rising from the bed, Cass noticed her shirt's crumpled form near the door and retrieved it. Pulling it over her head, she discovered that it was Kieran's rather than hers, and exhaled with exasperation. Just relax... the cannabis will come soon enough. She paused to run a hand through her hair and check her phone. Two missed calls. The first one was from her sister, who had left a message asking to grab a cup of coffee and talk some time next week. Pressing delete, she looked at the second call, which was from Paul. Thank god... he probably had weed on him, he always did, and Cass hastily retrieved for her shorts. Spotting them, she pulled them up around her hips and proceeded on a quest for her shirt, scanning the room for something that resembled the gray jersey she had had on the previous evening.
Suddenly, the door slid open and a girl stepped into the room. Cass froze, mid-stripping Kieran's shirt from her body. "Um... h-hi." Staring at the girl from across the room, Cass quickly lowered the shirt back over her bare torso, her eyebrows knitting into a grimace. Fuck. Did Kieran have a sibling? If he did, she might've heard... Cass's scowl quickly faded into a small smirk. "Hey," she replied, her mood lifting a bit. There was nothing like educating the innocent. "Guess you were up most of the night, like us?" She hadn't exactly tried to conceal her voice last night. Cass reached for her fedora hat, which, surprisingly, was propped neatly on top of the night-table. Twirling it around her fingers, she sat back onto the bed, facing the girl. Maybe she could deal with her head ache for a few more minutes...

Oh, hell! This was not good, this was not good at all. Poppy had half a mind to turn around and leave right now - technically, she wasn't in the room, still in the doorway - but she knew that if she did that, Kieran would give her hell. Then again, would he want her meeting this girl? She had to be in a gang of some description, probably Kieran's, knowing him. Also, knowing him, this girl was, like... a prostitute or something. Poppy bit her lip. Right now she wanted nothing more than to just hide away for a few hours, but... no chance of that. Cass' next comment made Poppy go a vivid and very noticable shade of red. Well, she was being honest, but did she HAVE to bring her and Kieran's... fun? "Uh, y-yeah..." Poppy mumbled, looking at the floor. Could this get anymore awkward? Oh, wait, maybe it could... Poppy had just remembered why she was up here in her brother's bedroom in the first place... oh god. No. No way was she sorting out his bed now she knew what had happened last night. But... what could she do? Kieran would be so annoyed... As if to prove her point, Kieran suddenly yelled up the stairs, "Poppy? What the FUCK are you doing?" making Poppy jump violently and finally enter the room after staying in the doorway for so long. Then she noticed that Cass was sitting on the bed and relaxed slightly - it meant she couldn't do anything, right? And Poppy wasn't going to try and stand up to this girl who could probably kill her within seconds, even if she weren't in the Delinquo Cartel. Or at least hurt her a lot... Poppy bit her lip again and finally forced herself to look at Cass. Then she noticed something. "W...Why are you w-wearing my brother's shirt?" Poppy wasn't stupidly confused - not now she knew what they were up to - but why was she wearing Kieran's shirt? That was just... weird. Poppy wouldn't touch his clothes with a bargepole. She wouldn't normally go in his room either, but, in cases like this... well, she didn't have a choice. Technically she did, but... she couldn't stand up to Kieran. Poppy felt tears pricking her eyes and quickly looked away from Cass, distracting herself by picking up the grey lump on the floor. Hm... Poppy held it up, the tears gone. "Is... is this yours?"
